I Like Saverr

Being in the US. for a few weeks, I've been going to a lot of events and meeting many new people. Last Monday I went to Webinno, my third event in three weeks, and it was a jam packed with people.

I was impressed with a few things, but it was Saverr that caught my eye. A start-up that recently moved from Israel to Boston and has developed a smartphone app that scans receipts by taking a picture of them.

Saverr is using the crowd to gather prices for products and gives back value by letting users know where to buy a product or their entite shopping list (already scanned in) at cheaper prices. From each scanned receipt, Saverr extracts the store information such as the vendor and location, the products purchased, the purchase date, discounts etc and delivers to its users up to date and accurate pricing information.

Talking with one of the founders, it seems like they are on the right track and will be monetizing by pushing targeted ads & promotions and selling data about customer behavior.

Every event I've been to lately is about mobile apps or POS data... maybe those are the things I'm interested in and I just gravitate to them :)
